1 Learn the meaning of word stress: When we say words of more than one syllable, we stress one of the syllables.
2 Do some exercises. Read some two-syllable words and stress the first syllable.Then read other two-syllable words and stress the second syllable.
3 Do some more exercises. Listen to a dialogue and pay attention to some words. Learn that we can use some two-syllable words as both nouns and verbs.
4 Do an exercise and work out the rule:For some two-syllable words, as nouns, the stress is on the first syllable. As verbs, the stress is on the second syllable.
Step3: Consolidation.
1 Listen to and repeat a dialogue. Pay attention to the stress in some two-syllable words. Consolidate the knowledge.
2 Read another dialogue. Judge the parts of speech of some words. Judge the stress in some two-syllable words. Read the dialogue.
