Step 2 Presentation
I. Lead in
1. Show a picture of the teacher and ask the pupils to guess something about the teacher with the help of the following sentences:
(1). Amy is young.
(2). Amy likes cooking.
(3). Amy has a sister.
(4). Amy has many beautiful shoes.
(5). Amy likes playing football.
(6). Amy likes dancing.
2. Introduce the new word “hobby” by saying “I like dancing.” “Dancing is my hobby.”
II. Teach new words and phrases
1. Have the pupils know some experiences in Korea and teach the phrases“take photos”, “playing the violin”, “playing the guitar”, “playing the piano” as well as some words about other instruments by looking at some pictures , listening to the sounds of music or asking the pupils to speak out.
2. Have the pupils learn the word “collecting ...” by guessing the hobby of the teacher in Korea. Ask the pupils to say some hobbies with “collecting...” and educate them to protect the animals.
Step3 Practice and consolidation
1. Listen and match
Ask the pupils to listen to the recording of the text book and match the speakers’ hobbies.
Listen and repeat.
Ask the pupils to read the sentences after the recording.
Step 4 Application
To develop the pupils’ ability to use English in real situation, have the pupils show their hobbies by running for the member of the Students’ Union.
Step 5 Summary and sublimation
Summarize what they learn in this class and show them some more interesting hobbies to tell them that hobbies can make our life colorful.
