Teaching procedures
Step 1 Greeting and Warming-up
First, I will show a song about football and let the students know we are talking about sports today. Then I will show some pictures about sports.
Step 2 Presentation
1.After showing some pictures about sports, I will show another picture about cycling. Then I will introduce Tour of Qinghai Lake.
2. Have students listen to the tape and judge the sentences.
3. Show pictures and introduce Tour de France
Step 3 Practice
1. After listening to the tape, I will ask students to retell the bicycle race .
2. After introducing Tour de France, I will do extensive reading and intensive reading.
3. Ask students to read 1a again, and finish 1b.
Step 4 Consolidate
I will ask students to read a short passage about doing sports and finish a chart.
Step 5 Production
Have a PK about sports knowledge.
Step Six Summary and homework
Summarize the main contents about the bicycle races we’ve learnt in this class .
Homework
Search more sports events on the Internet and write a short passage about your favorite sports event.
