Ⅳ. Language points
1. two peas in a pod 本意为“一个豆荚里的两颗豆”。此处意为“一模一样,形影不离”。例如:
The twins are like “two peas in a pod”. 这对双胞胎就像一个模子里刻出来的一样。
stop doing s th.表示“ 停止做某事”,指停止正在做的事情,doing 是 stop 的宾语,是要停止的动作。而 stop to do sth.意为“停下来开始做某事”,指停下来去做另一件事情,to do 是 stop 的状语,表示目的,是要开始做的事情。例如:
Stop reading, boys and girls. 同学们,不要读了。
