ⅡTeaching steps:
Step1 Revision and leading-in:
The teacher asks some questions about plants and animals as follows: 1. Why do you think plants are very important to us? 2. Do you think animals are also useful and important to Man and environment? 3. Do you love animals? And do you have an animal pet?
Then, the teacher says to the Ss “ Pet animals are lovely and useful, but wild animals are very important to us as well, and their living conditions are becoming worse and worse, so we should do something to save or protect them.” To lead-in the new lesson “ Save the Tigers”.
Step2 Presentation:
Ask the Ss to read the text together. Special attention should be paid on pronunciation and intonation while reading the text. It’s helpful to their understanding of the passages.
Learn the new words and phrases listed in Item3, Teaching objectives, including phonetics, definition and spelling and usage.
Get the class to read the passage again, encourage them to try their best to read the new language points correctly.
Step3 Practice:
The teacher ask the Ss to read the text by themselves loudly and clearly and then get them to do Exx. 1&2. The teacher help them if necessary.
Check the answers to emphasize the main ideas and language points to support them so that the teacher can instill the Ss’ ability of the target language.
Ask the Ss who are good at English to demonstrate the topic “ Why to save the tigers?” according to the answers to Exx.1&2.
Step4 Consolidation:
Spit the class into several groups to talk about the topic in English.
Check one member of each group.
Step5 Homework:
1. words and phrases
2. Retell the text.
