IV、Teaching Procedure:

Stage 1 Pre-reading

Step 1 Playing a game

Play a game called “I ask, you repeat”to cheer up the students first and revise Object Clauses with if or weather. Ask some simple questions. Students repeat them together. And then ask some students to repeat some other questions individually.

T:Do you like English?

S: Mr. Wang asks if/whether we like English.

T: Will you have a food festival next week?

S: Mr. Wang asks if/whether we will have a food festival next week.

Step 2 Watching a video

Show students a video about the teacher and then let students ask about the teacher with Object Clauses. “Mr. Wang, can you tell me if/whether...?”

Stage 2 While-reading

Step 1 Lead-in

Point out the teacher’s favorite hobby is traveling. Tell students the teacher’s travel plan for this summer holidays. And ask students to help he teacher find out different eating habits in different countries. Lead in the topic of the passage.

Step 2 Reading

Students read the passage and finish Task 1 on the worksheet.

Step 3 Checking

Check students’ answers to the table.

Stage 3 Post-reading

Step 1 Learning eating customs

Show students more eating customs and ask about if/whether they are polite or impolite and the reasons. Help students answer them with Object Clauses.
