Step one: Warming up and leading-in
Have a short revision about the last class by a dialogue and then show students a coin, every coin has two sides, so does the Internet!
Step two: Presentation
Listen to the passage and get the main idea of the passage.
Read the text and try to find out the advantages and disadvantages of the Internet, the teacher shows them with pictures first and then ask the students to guess and say the sentence. Finish them one by one according to the text.
Fill the blanks within the text.
The teacher say it in Chinese and the students translate them in English. (Some other advantages and disadvantages of the Internet.)
Step three: Pair work
Have a pair work to let the students have a debate on ‘the good or the bad of the Internet’.
Some rule should be obeyed about the debate. The purpose of this activity is to train the students ability of output in language and their react of this class.
Step four: Writing
Based on the debate try to write a short composition, only the body part because of the time.
Step five: Summary
This class we have learned these new phrases, got the main idea of the passage and grasped some detailed information of the passage. And how to use the Internet properly, whether I am good or bad, it depends on you! The properly you use me, the better you will improve yourself.
Step six: Homework
The homework in this lesson is to have the students finish the composition by themselves.
Teaching Reflections
Strength: New teaching strategies have been adopted.
Weakness: More efforts should be made to enhance the students’ formal accuracy in their communication. Most students can involve them in the classroom activities, especially for the students who are talented in English, they can find their roles well in the group activities. Without doubt, this will encourage them to learn English. At last, because of the limited time, the writing part did not show in detailed.
