1. The Ss have known something about Olympic through the Internet and other ways.
2. They are lack of vocabulary.
3. They don’t often use English to express themselves and communicate with others.
4. Some Ss are not active in the class because they are afraid of making mistakes.

Part 3. Teaching procedures
I have designed the following steps to train their ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing, especially reading ability.
Step1 :Lead in
Show the new words to the students.
Purpose: Arouse the students’ interest of study.
Step2:Fast reading
Read the passage as quickly as they can. I show the questions on the screen and let them get the main idea of this lesson.
Read the lesson and answer the questions.
1 How does Danny feel while standing on one foot ?
2 Why is Danny doing that?
3 How long does Danny stand on one foot ?
4 Why does Danny give up ?
5 Who will come to Danny’s home ?
Purpose: Improve the students’ reading ability.
Step3: Read: Ask two groups to read the dialogue, then let the students read the dialogue in parts. if they do well,we can go on next step , If they can’t , I will give them two minutes to recite the dialogue.
Purpose: I want to know if my students understand the whole text really.
Step4:Answer the questions and discuss
