Greeting

T: Good morning, guys. It’s time for class. Nice to meet you here today.

Step 1 Lead-in

T: Do you know these teams? What do they have in common? (have a discussion) Show students the pictures of some famous Dream Teams involved in the passage.

Step 2 Aims

T: Boys and girls, do you know what we are going to read about today?

Ss: The Dream Team.

T: Yes, today we’re going to read about the Dream Team. Let’s see what you will be able to do by the end of the lesson.

(Present the aims on the PPT)

T: (choose one student to read the aims ) Could you tell us what you’ll be able to do by the end of the lesson?

S1: Ok, by the end of the lesson, we will be able to make up a short dialogue about the dream team by using these phrases: work together,perform better,and never give up….

Step 3 Reading

1. T: Good, thank you, sit down please. There are three paragraphs in the passage, now read it and try to find out the main idea of each paragraph.

2. Check the answer.

3. Now let’s find some more details of the passage. Then fill in the chart.

4. T:Is there any other dream teams do you know in China? (Let students list some dream teams , then show some other famous dream teams of China on the PPT. )

S: Women Volleyball Team, Shooting team, Weightlifting team…

T:Yes, and they called the Dream Teams, try to think about why they called the Dream Team?

S: Maybe they have won the most gold medals in Olympic games and they are undefeated.

T: Great. As we know, winning gold medals is very important to a dream team, but is there something more important to a dream team? What is it? Now read again and find the imformation.

T: All right. Time is up. Now who wants to have a try?

S: A dream team has not only the best players and the best coach, but also has the best team spirit. (Teacher presents the mind map on PPT) 小组记分

1. If your school will hold a sports meeting, and your class need to organize a sports team to take part in it. What sports team would you like to organize?
