Third, Teaching methods
It is generally known the aim of learning English in junior middle school is to improve Ss’ four skills of English learning and their good sense of this language. I will mainly use task-based teaching method. I will arrange some tasks to guide Ss to be the real masters while I myself will be a director. What’s more, the new curriculum standard advocates language is for communication. So it is necessary to focus on the development of Ss. I will also use communicative method and situational method to let Ss learn some reading strategies and develop their integrate ability of reading.
Fourth, Learning methods
According to the teaching content and aims that I designed, students will mainly use skimming, scanning, guessing games and communication in groups in this reading period. And I think with the help of the teacher’s guidance and the right ways of reading, the tasks will not be difficult for them.
Fifth, Teaching procedures
There are five steps.
Step1. Lead-in
By greeting and enjoying a video about sport to lead to the topic.
Purpose: a neat and smart lead-in will attract Ss’ attention and arouse their reading curiosity.
Step2. Pre-reading
1. Show the objectives of this class; Let students know the, main idea of this lesson.
2. Do a brainstorm about sports words; be ready for the following learning; boys and girls compete with each other.
3. Check the preview.
4. Listen and fill in the blanks. To learn the new words.
Purpose: to cultivate students’ ability of learning English.
Step3. While-reading
Fast-reading (Skimming)
To skim the passage quickly and answer the following questions. To skim quickly and answer the simple questions.
Purpose: to cultivate students’ ability of getting the main idea of the passage through skimming.
Careful-reading(Scanning)
Group work: to scan the passage and answer the following three questions.
Purpose: to cultivate Ss’ ability of getting the detailed information through scanning.
Read again. Read the text fast, fluently or, funny. Do let's do it part three..
Purpose: To arouse students’ interests of reading.
Step4. Post-reading (2 ways)
1. Play a guessing game.
