Step 1: Lead in
We have learned a lot about rubbish this week. I want to ask you a question: What do you do with your rubbish?
Do you have other ways? I made a vase and some flowers out of rubbish. I think they are beautiful. Let’s watch a video to see another person’s idea.
After watching a video, I say “The girl made a bolster out of garbage. Let’s see how Danny and Jenny deal with the garbage? So let’s learn Lesson 45: Let’s Sort Garbage!”
Step 2: New words.
I showed you my vase and flowers. I made them out of rubbish or we can say litter, right? Can you guess how I made it? What do I need? An empty bottle. The bottle is made of plastic. I cut them and glue some together.
Let me show you another one. What is it? It is a plane model. What is it made of? It is made of wood, plastic and metal. Next time when you have litter, don’t just throw away. A lot of litter can be recycled and made into new things. Let’s read the red words together. I want one student to read these words and others read after him or her.
Step 3: Listening
1. Extensive listening(泛听)
Danny and Jenny are talking about litter, too. Let’s listen to their dialogue and write true or false. Let’s read these three sentences together. Listen and check. The second sentence is wrong, who can correct it? You really did a good job!
2. Intensive reading(精听)
Let’s listen again and know more details. You have one minute to read these three paragraphs by yourselves.
Listen one by one and check answers.
Step 4:Reading
Open your books and turn to Page 118. Let’s read the dialogue together. After reading, let’s do the task-based reading. Check the answers one by one.
Step 5: Language points
1. There is an important structure in this sentence. And I give you another two sentences. They all appear in this lesson. Read these three sentences together. Can you find the same part? Yes. The structure is “It is+n./adj. for/of sb. to do sth.” Let’s practice this structure. There are some pictures in the PPT. Ask students to describe each picture using this structure.
