3. Word guessing . Ask the students to try to guess the meanings of the new words. And explain how they get the answer.

Check the preparation of the new words.(I give the explanation of each word and make students guess what the words are.)

1.回顾上节课的内容,为新课做铺垫。对故事结局的预测可以引起学生的兴趣,激发他们的学习热情。

2. 猜单词可以训练学生专注聆听和快速记忆单词的能力。While-reading1.Skimming

Ask the students to listen to the tape and judge whether the statements true of false.

2.Scanning

1) Ask the students to read the passage to match the main idea with each paragraph . Let the students underline the sentences on the book. ( Individual work)

2) Read the lesson again and fill in the blanks. Tick the sentences mentioned .The students are still needed to underline the sentences on the book. (Team work)

3.Read aloud. Let the students read along the tape .Try to imitate the pronunciation and intonation.

好段好句的背诵,是学生语言知识积累的必要途径。Post-reading1. Discussion:

(1)What’s your first impression of this giant?

(2)What’s your opinion toward this giant?

Let the students work in groups and discuss their ideas. Each group chooses proper words to express their ideas.

2.Activities:You can choose either of the task.

Task 1

Play roles as the giant and the children . Act the story out in your group.

Task 2

Retell the story in your own words.

3.Think about it

What can we learn from the fairy tale?

Sharing is the most beautiful thing in the world.

Selfish isn’t a merit to all of us.
