教学过程  一、创设情境,切入主题

Step 1:Free talk

Yesterday we did an interesting experiment . Do you remember? Look at the picture, what can you see?(学生根据图片复习昨天实验)Today we will do another interesting experiment. lesson26:keep the candle burning. I believe you will love it.

设计意图:通过图片复习lesson25所做实验,导出lesson26课(由已知到新知)展开过程,探究新知

Step1:Look at the picture ,observe what we need to do the experiment?

设计意图:鼓励学生通过观察图片和对实验强烈的求知欲和好奇心并利用带来的教具,学习本课的新词。为下一步用这些实验器材可以做什么实验打下基础。体现本单元主题Talking About Science。

Step 2:Presentation

Listen ,fill and remember

First,______the candle____the candle holder.

Second, _____ the candle hoder ____the dish.

Third,______the dish half full _____ water.

Fourth,____ the candle.

Fifth,_____the candle ____for two or three minutes.

Sixth, carefully_____the jar ____the candle until the top of the jar ________on the dish.

Seventh,______the water in the jar.

设计意图:听录音模仿语音语调,填空并记忆实验步骤,为学生做实验做好准备。

2.Imagine and Predict

If I put the jar over the candle until the top of the jar rests on the dish,what will happen?

I’m not sure./I’m sure it will...

I think... Maybe...

3.Do,Observe and Answer

A student come to the front to do the experiment . The other students describe how to do the experiment . Then observe what will happen?

(The candle stops burning.The water rises up.)

设计意图:并鼓励学生示范实验,同时鼓励他们表述实验描述实验过程,让学生熟悉实验流程。

Step 3:Discussion (studying in groups)

1.Why did the candle stop burning?

(Because it has used up the oxygen in the air.)

2.Why did the water rise?

(Because the force outside the jar is stronger than the force inside the jar.)
