Step two: New contents

1,New words teaching.

2,Text analysis

First,read paragraph1~2,the first sentence of every paragraph and the last paragraph and find out the answers to the following questions:(Skimming)

a,Who is the main character of this text and where does he live?

b,What does Joe Wu think of living in Canada and why?

C,How does the writer think experiencing two different cultures?

Then,divide the Ss into several groups and ask them to read paragraph3~8 and find out the differences between Chinese culture and Canadian culture.(Discuss within groups and give report.)(Intensive reading)

3,Language points

It is +adj.+for/of sb.+to do sth./take turns doing sth.

Relevant exercises about the two language points are presented on PowerPoint.

Step three:Extension(group work)

Think about it:

What cultural differences,besides the ones already discussed,have you noticed between China and English-speaking countries?Share your ideas with your classmates.(Ask the students to think about it and give report.)

Step four:Summary

Ask the students:What have you learned in this class?

Then make an oral summary from the following three aspects:1,language points;2,cultural differences;3, reading skills.

Step five:Homework

1,Review the lesson.

2,Write down your ideas about cultural difference.(around 60 words)
