Teaching procedures:

Lead-in

Greet students and tell them greeting is a good manner.

Warming-up:

Ask students questions:

1 、What will you say if you see your Chinese friend wear new clothes? What will he or she reply?

2、What’s the situation if it happens in Canada? What will your Canadian friend reply?

By the two questions ,ask students how much they know about the two different cultures. ask students to think and answer, then ask one or two pairs to act out the two situations.

Group work:

Tell students to work in groups and show them 2 tasks.

How many differences of manners are mentioned in this lesson?

What are the differences?

Presentation:

1、Ask some students to answer the questions. Check the answers.

2、Help them summarize in their own words. Give students some tips if it is difficult for them.

Practice:

Ask students to reorganize the passage and try to retell the six differences using their own words according to task they finished before.

Level-up:

Show 2 pictures to students. One is a young man looking through his mobile phone while his mother is trying to pass food to his mouth. The other is family members are playing with their mobile phones during dinner time except a disappointed father.

What’s your feeling when looking at the pictures?

2、What should we do in our daily life to stay away from the bad manners?

After learning this lesson, Tell students try to have good manners and care about the family members.
