Step1.Review
We have learned some passive voice, let’s review the structures
Step2.warm up
Show some pictures about the famous people including Yuan Longping. Let’s say something about this famous people .
Then show students a short introduction of Yuanlongping
Step3.Read the text and ask questions.
Finish the task in groups. Find questions about this part. Then ask the other group to answer them.
The questions are like these:
What’s Professor Yuan’s childhood dream?
When was he born?
What did he succeed in developing?
Did foreigner countries use Professor Yuan’s technology?
Where did he graduate from ?
What did he succeed in ?
When was the technology for hybrid rice introduced to the US?
Step4.explain the important language points:
so that = in order that ,引导目的状语从句,表示“以便,为了”,从句中常常使用can could may might will should shall 等情态动词,eg
He turned off the TV so that his mother could have a good sleep .
so that 还可引导结果状语从句,从句中一般不使用情态动词,前面常用逗号隔开,eg
Tom got up late ,so that he was late for school .
So…..that +从句,“如此…..以至于……”eg
The box is so heavy that I can’t carry it .
He walked so slowly that he didn’t catch the bus .
