Step1 Warming up

Play the song Happy Birthday and let students guess it.

Then teacher asks student to sing the song for a student in the class for her birthday is coming.

Look at the picture and teacher leads students to say people in the picture are having a birthday party.

Step2 Brainstorming

1)Question from the teacher:

What do you usually do on your birthday?

I usually... (students answer)

Pictures show more answers like having a birthday party, cutting cakes, getting presents and singing birthday songs, eating noodles.

Students read the phrases together.

I always have a party on my birthday.(对划线部分提问)

What do you always do on your birthday party?

Step3 Pair work

Sentence structure

A: What do you always/ often /usually /never do on your birthday?

B: I always/ often /usually /never...

The teacher and one student make a sample.

Some phrases given to help.

make a cake, sing songs, play games, get presents/ birthday cards, eat noodles/ birthday cakes, have a birthday party

4)Change the first person into third person and pay attention to the form of the verbs

A: What does Daming always/ often /usually /never do on his birthday?

B: He always/ often /usually /never...

Show the changes of the verbs;

makes a cake, sings songs, plays games, gets presents/ birthday cards, eats noodles/ birthday cakes, has a birthday party
