Ⅵ Teaching Steps
Step 1 Warming-up & Lead in:
Enjoy a video! Then ask students what is this video: What is it about?
Students will say: It’s a concert. Then the teacher will ask questions:
Do you usually go to concerts?
Do you often go to concerts?
Do you sometimes go to concerts?
Students may say: No!
Then the teacher will say: you never go to concerts, right? But I have a friend, she often goes to concerts. And today, we will learn M8U2 she often goes to concerts. (This part is to preview what we learnt in unit 1: the adverbs of frequency and introduce our new lesson. 2 minutes)
Step 2 Pre-reading: words and phrases. Look at the following pictures and speak out the words and phrases they refer to.
Then read the words and phrases first after the teacher then by themselves. Next the teacher will check by showing pictures, let students say the words and phrases!

(This part is to deal with some new words and phrases. 5 minutes)
Then, the teacher will show a picture of a baby, ask students: Do you want to see her face? Then show another picture. ask students to guess who the baby is? Is she cute? Then the teacher will introduce this baby: she is my daughter. She is only one-and-half years old. On her first birthday, I bought her a beautiful cake, she liked it very much. Do you like it?
Then ask students: If you have a friend, his birthday is coming, do you know how to choose a birthday presents for him? Let’s see our passage today: choosing birthday presents. After learning this passage, you will know how to choose presents.
