My purpose is to revise what we have learnt in unit 1and unit 2, and get good preparation for this class.
Step 2: Work in groups
Show some pictures by asking What does … do everyday? and What is …doing at the moment?
Students answer the questions by using Present simple tense and Present Continuous tense.
Divide the whole class into 6 groups and ask each group to practice the pattern drills with partners.
Discuss in groups, and conclude the differences between Present Continuous tense and Present simple tense, and then show it to the others.
My purpose is to practise and consolidate the differences between Present Continuous tense and Present simple tense.
Step 3 Write questions and short answers
Ask one of the students in each group to write out the full questions and short answers individually according to the pictures.
Like this:
— Is Lingling’s mother cleaning the house? — Yes, she is.
Step 4 Play a guessing game.
Invite three groups to guess what is/are she/ he / they doing? And meanwhile correct the wrong forms of the sentences.
Step 5. Fill in the blanks.
Discuss with the group members, fill in the blanks and then check the answers by reading together.
My purpose: step 3&4&5 is to distinguish the differences between Present Continuous and Simple Present, and master the usage of the general questions forms of Present Continuous tenses.
Step 6: Around the world
1. Ask the students to look at the picture and discuss what they can see.
2. Introduce Christmas and Santa claus to the students and show them some important phrases, give them several minutes to read through the information, and try to retell the story.
3. Read the passage together.
My purpose is to know more information about Christmas and Father Christmas, and know more about foreign cultures.
Step 7 Summary
Ask students to give the summary about the differences between Present Continuous tense and Present simple tense. And say what they have learnt in this class, and give the feedback of their homework.
Step 8 Homework
Write a letter to a friend saying::
what you’re doing for Spring Festival at the moment.
what you usually do.
My purpose is to give the feedback and develop the ability in using languages.
七、教学反思
在本节课中,我重点加强对学生知识的操练和巩固上,通过多种活动为学生体验、参与实践与合作学习提供了一定的机会,但仍然有部分学生没有参与其中。由于时间紧张,在教学中,没有给学生足够的思考时间,这也是以后需要改进的。
