Emotion attitude:
Arouse the students’ interests of learning English through talking about days of the week, have students learn about the culture differences between China and western countries.
学情分析:
It’s the first unit in Starter Module4. Teaching type is listening and speaking. This unit is focused on talking about days of the week. It’s important for students to understand the conversation, and it’s useful to learn to express days of the week. All the students have learnt English in primary school, and some of them learnt it well, it’s easy for them to understand the conversation and grasp the knowledge. But a few of them may not do well, so I need to help them and encourage them in class. I must show a well-designed lesson to attract students, so that they can learn this unit better.
重点难点:
1 To grasp the new words and key structures.
2 To ask and answer about days of the week.
3 To give a conversation of talking about days of the week.
教学活动:
Step1: warming up and lead in
1 Greet the students.
2 Show the topic of the new lesson. Ask and answer about it.
3 Play an English song
Step2: key words and structures study
1 Show the teaching aims. Read the key sentences for students to follow. Let a student lead others to read.
2 Read the new words. Show seven pictures for students to read the new words, say some sentences to help them.
Step3: Listening and reading
1 Show a question: How many days are there in a week? Ask a student to answer.
Ask: What are they? Show the words from Sunday to Saturday. Play the tape recorder for students to listen and repeat. (A2)
Let students read them together, then read them one by one. Make sure all the students can read them exactly.
2 Learn about sources of western weeks. Make sure students can understand “ Mon. Is short for Monday...”.
3 Ask and answer. Students use calendars to do A2 in pairs.
4 Play the tape recorder for students to listen and understand.
Play it again for them to listen and imitate.
Read the conversation in pairs and try to act it out. Ask some pairs to act it out. (A1)
Train ability of listening and reading, make sure students can grasp the key information and understand the conversation.
Step4: Reading and practice
1 Ask students to discuss in groups, then ask some groups to read and check.
Play the tape recorder for them to listen and read. (A3)
2 Play a game. Ask students to practise in groups, each group rush to answer. Give students small prizes to encourage them. (A4)
