Linguistic achievement: Student of Grade 1 in middle school may have learned some words about buildings and prepositions of place, but they may not use them correctly, so it should be focused.

Text organization: Student of Grade 1 in middle school may do not know how to introduce their school with a clear order, so it should be told.

Strategy achievement: Students of grade 1 in middle school may not find the key words correctly and locate them quickly, so it should be practiced.

Teaching Objectives:

By the end of class, students can

Linguistic objectives: use the name of buildings with the prepositions of place to describe a school.

Text organization: introduce their school with the order of clockwise.

Strategy objectives: use the skimming strategy to find the key words, then locate the key words in a passage.

Teaching Focus and the Way Out:

Key point: the words of buildings (library, sports hall, etc.); the usage of prepositions of place.

Way out: show some pictures and words about the buildings in our school to present words and prepositions of place; give preposition for students and lead them to retell the passage.

Difficult point: the order of the passage---clockwise

Way out: use red arrows to mark the order one by one so that enlighten them to find the order of this passage by themselves.

Teaching methodology:

My teaching philosophy: In English teaching, the students’ interest is the most important element. Interest is the inner motivation towards study, and it makes the students study more actively. Thus, we should motivate the students’ interest. According to the cognitive theory, learning is a rational process which involves thinking. Therefore, we raise questions to the students and let them find answers by themselves instead of being told everything directly. Besides, we and students should cooperate and participate in the class activities.
