4. Learning strategy: Students can learn to cooperate and communicate with each other through the pair-work/ group-work activity.
Analysis of the teaching content:
1. Status: This is the second lesson of the module. After learning how to describe the classroom in the first lesson, students will learn how to describe maps of schools, using prepositions of place. This lesson aims at promoting reading and speaking skills. A writing task will be set after this lesson.
2. Key points:
a. Words and phrases: building, hall, gate, library, office, playground, science, lab, behind, between…and…, in the middle of, near, with, for, room
b. Structure:
-Where’s the playground?
-It’s in the middle of the school.
-The library is on the left of the playground near the school.
-How many buildings are there in the school?
3. Difficult points:
Between this building and the dining hall is the classroom building with twenty-four classrooms.
Analysis of the students:
The topic ‘my school’ is closely related to students’ life, so it is easy to arise their interests. Moreover, students have briefly learnt about prepositions of place before, so learning can happen based on that. However, teacher should activate students’ prior knowledge at the beginning of the lesson. Apart from this, life-related situations need to be set for the sake of encouraging the authentic use of the language.
