Step 1 Lead in
Show some pictures of our school and ask students a question: Do you know how to describe the position of each building. Then lead to today’s topic.
Step 2 Pre-reading activities
Show the words on the screen and ask students to read and repeat.
Label the pictures
Ask students to look at the pictures in activity 1 and match the words with different pictures from the box.
Prepositional phrases teaching
Show students some pictures and write all prepositional phrases on the blackboard. Then ask students to describe the position of the people in the given pictures.
After that, ask students to finish Activity 2 on page 16. Check answers with the whole class.
Step 3 While-reading activities
Fast reading
Ask students to read the passage quickly and find the answer of these two questions:
How many buildings are there in the school?
What are they?
Ask students to underline the answers in the passage.
Careful reading
Ask students to finish activity 3 and underline the corresponding expressions in the passage. Then check the answers.
