Teaching steps:
Step 1 Revision
1. Check Ss’ oral homework on the Internet.
2. Get a student to play the word game (listen and choose right pictures).
3. Choose some Ss’ records to make an Mp3, and play it in the class.
Step 2 Presentation
Show two pictures of nice clothes, and get the Ss to make sentences with so/ such.
e.g. The dress is so beautiful. It is such a beautiful dress.
2. Show another two pictures with people in the clothes, and ask the Ss if they look great in them and how they look like.
3. Discuss what we would like to look like when we choose clothes to wear.
4. Get the Ss to talk about the ways to choose suitable clothes.
1) Know about body shapes.
2) Know the differences between colors and clothing styles.
Step 3 Reading
1. Get the Ss to skim the letter in 1a, P85 and answer the questions
1) Who opened a clothing store?
2) Why did Tom write the letter?
3) How many suggestions did Tom give?
4) What does Tom hope?
2. Get the Ss to read the letter carefully and complete the table in 1b according Tom’s suggestions for dressing.
Step 4 Practice
1. Get the Ss to retell the suggestions for dressing with the table in 1b.
2. Get the Ss to read the sentences about the shapes of Li Ming’s family members and choose suitable clothes for them.
e.g. Li Ming’s father has a broad waist, he should wear ...
Step 5 Writing
We will have a class fashion show, please write suggestions for your friends.
Step 6 Homework
1. Get the Ss to listen to the letter and repeat on Kouyu 100.
2. Finis off exercise in the workbook P60.
3. Write a short passage about suggestions for dressing.
