Show a picture about computer games to arouse the students’ interest and lead into the topic—computer game problems.

Pre-reading

Ask students some questions to activate the students’ background knowledge.

1. Do you like playing computer games?

2. How often do you play computer games?

3. Do you think playing too much computer games is good for your health or bad for your health?

While-reading

Ask students to look at the picture, the title, read the first and the last paragraphs to answer the following questions:

What is the man in the picture probably doing?

Who is he talking to?

What is he probably talking about? Skim the speech, then match the paragraphs with their main meanings. Later on check the answers with the students.Show students the complete speech, ask students to listen to the speech and answer the following questions.

3 .What is the serious problem?

Who will talk to the students tomorrow?

What will they talk about?Ask students to summarize the simple format of a speech. A speech should includes an introduction, a body and a conclusion.

Post-reading

Ask students to fill in the blanks of a letter about a mother writes to his son after the parents’ meeting. Then ask students to show their answers.Ask some volunteers to give the speech in this headmaster’s way. Then ask students to say who gave the best speech.Discussion:
