Ⅴ.Teaching Objectives

According to the core competencies theory. My students are expected to develop four key competencies.

a) The learning ability: Students can get the specific information in the text and understand the passage by using the reading strategies such as skimming, scanning and predicting; The can learn and master the new vocabularies and key phrases.

b) The language ability: Students can analyze the advantages and disadvantages and make a choice.

c) The thinking quality: Students can know that “Every coin has two sides.” and learn to look at things from two sides. It can help them cultivate critical thinking.

d) The cultural character: Students can know more about online shopping and they can realize that technology makes a big difference of our society.

Ⅵ. Teaching Key Points and Difficult Points

Teaching Key Points:

a) Use the reading strategies to finish tasks.

b) Students can analyze the advantages and disadvantages of online shopping.

Teaching Difficult Points:

a) Observe both sides of problems and make a choice.

b) To avoid going to extremes while giving opinions.

Ⅶ. Teaching Methods

For achieving the teaching aims and after the analysis of the teaching material, key points and difficult points, I’ll use the following methods according to the modern social communication teaching theories.

a) Interactive Approach. Language is for communication and students are interested in this topic, so I will let them cooperate with each other.

b) Task-based Language Teaching. Students at this age are willing to challenge themselves so I will provide them with several reading tasks.

c) Whole Language Teaching. It can present a theme from different angles by repeated reproduction, so they will have opportunity to combine the past knowledge with the new knowledge we are going to learn.
