Step 1. Warm up
1. Read through the lists of words and have the students repeat them. Make sure they can master them all.【n·j·y
2 Play a game and ask students to try to guess the places people work at with the help of the descriptions and pictures.
Check the answers.
3. Have students look at the pictures carefully and match them with words.
Check the answers.
Step 2. Listening and reading
1. Play the dialogue in Activity 1 and have students number the words as they hear them.
Check the answers and show the correct answers on the board.
2. Play the record in Activity 3, have students read the dialogue carefully while listening and gain the main idea of it .
3. Have students read it again and try to find out the answers to the questions on Page33.
Students answer the questions individually.
4. Ask students find out whether the statements on the whiteboard true or false, correct the false statements.
Have several students tell their ideas.
5. Have students read the dialogue again and underline the sentences about how to ask directions and give directions. Give them some minutes to do the job.
Work together with students and show the key sentences on the whiteboard. Then have students read them for some minutes till they can use them perfectly, which is important for the next activity.
Step 3. Speaking and working in pairs
Show a map to the students , ask them to imagine they are lost and they want to ask for help from their partners, they should practice the sentences about asking and giving directions .
Set an example for them, here it is :
T: Excuse m, I am at the KFC, Can you tell me the way to the station ?
