Step 1. Warming up
1. Show a picture and ask: What can you see? What’s the man doing?
2. Play a piano piece and ask : What do you think of this piece of music? Then elicit the title of Unit 1: It’s so beautiful !
Step 2. Playing a guessing game
Play some pieces of music and ask the students to guess what kind of music, meanwhile, show some pictures to help them.
Step3. Listen and number the words as you hear them.
1. Tell the students that Tony and his parents are talking about the music, ask them to listen to their conversation and number the words as they hear them.
2. Check the answers by asking one student to give his/her answers .
3. Ask them to read the words together.
Step4. Listen again and match.
Ask the students to listen to the conversation again and match the people with the music they like.
Step5.Work in pairs. Answer the questions about the conversation in Activity 1.
1. Ask the students to work in pairs to answer the questions .
2. Play the recording again for them to check their answers.
3. Check the answers by asking one student to give his/her answers.
Step6. Listen and read.
1. Play a piece of music and ask : Do you know the name of this piece of music? Show a picture to help them. Then ask : Do you know the composer ?
2. Play the recording and tell them they can find out the composer in the conversation.
3. Ask the students to read the conversation after the tape, then check the true sentences.
4. Check the answers and ask them to correct the false sentences.
5. Ask them to read the conversation again and complete the table.
