There are 40 students in this class. The students here are top students in Grade Eight. It’s easy for them to reading this passage. So this lesson I’d like to encourage them to read for thinking some critical questions. By answering these questions, students will develop their thinking abilities. Although the students are excellent, there are still some difficulties we met during teaching.
Anticipated difficulties:
Students may feel difficult to understand the problem.
Students may also feel difficult to give classmates some advice on English learning.
Solution:
1. Teach student to express their opinions on English learning through their own experiences.
2. Relevant exercises as shown in the teaching procedure are designed to help students overcome the difficulties.
3.Key and difficult points:
1. Enable the students to get familiar with the structure-expressing their advice or plan.
2. Vocabulary:
a. some key phases: club, together, start, hear...
b. expressions of giving advice such as it’s a good idea to....,you’d better...
4.Teaching procedures
Step1 Warming up & leading in
Show the students a video and Teacher can talk with the students about how to improve their English. Do the language practice and make sure the students can understand and use the structures in this module.
[purpose]This activity is to help students be familiar with the topic and the key sentence structure, they can get prepared for the activities in the following steps.The video are used to attract students from the beginning of the lesson, and help them brainstorm the ways to say hello.The first activity of lesson is easy so that we can help students build their confidence.
Step2 Pr-writing
Listening
Ask the students to listen to the tape and find the main ideas.
Ask them to listen again and fill in the blanks.
Play a game about the sentences to give advice.
[purpose] By filling the blanks and playing the games, students will become more familiar with the difficult point of this module.
The purpose of this step is to teach students to grasp the key structure of this module. Meanwhile it also develops students’ writing strategy.

Read the email and answer Helen's question.
