Step I Pre-reading
First ask students to compare the two important cities in China: Shanghai and Hong Kong, they may say:
Shanghai is bigger than Hong Kong;
Hong Kong is hotter than Shanghai;
…
In fact, the most obvious difference is: Shanghai is in the east of China, but Hong Kong is in the south of China.
Next teach the four directions: east, south, west, north.
Then show students a map of China.
