2. This lesson is the first period of unit1. In Unit1, it introduces Beijing Opera, something about Lao She Teahouse and some performances in it. The clue of the dialogue is Beijing Opera.
The new vocabulary in Unit1 is not too much and it is easy to learn. It will be helpful for students to understand and talk. Listening and speaking practices are the key parts. A listening skill (predict or guess before listening) is mentioned and practiced in this lesson. Make students understand the discussion about Beijing Opera and Lao She Teahouse. After listening, they can talk about them with the new structure “verbs followed by infinitives”. Students will find traditional culture is valuable, so it’s our duty to protect them.
At the end of the dialogue, they mentioned another topic, “Lao She is a great writer. He’s especially famous for his play Teahouse.” The teacher should have a short discussion with students, which will make the study melting for the Unit2.
Analysis of the students
1. Students will be interested in the topic, they like some interesting performances in teahouses, such as Beijing Opera, traditional music, acrobatics, magic shows and tea shows, but they are not familiar with the two topics--opera and teahouse. It’s necessary to have enough input information. After that, they will be able to listen and talk.
2. Listening and speaking practices are much more important. Students should summarize some listening skills by themselves.
