六:Teaching Aims
By the end of the study, students will be able to complete following objectives.
Knowledge obejectives
To be able to read and get the main idea &specific information of a passage about population problems.
To be able to understand and explain the information provided by a population passage.
Ability obejective
To be able to write about city problems.
Moral objectives
To raise students’ awareness of environmental protection;
Train students to think comprehensively and deeply;
Improve their abilities of summarizing and comparing.
七:Important and difficult points
Questions--How to talk about problems of cities and how to solve the problems?
Solutions--1.students find out problems mentioned in the passage and summarize them;
2.students discuss with partners about more and better solutions;
3.the teacher helps students write about population problems and solutions.
八:Teaching procedures
Step1 Greeting
Step2 Lead-in
Ask students to guess the teacher’s hometown with the help of pictures and try to describe the pictures.
(Aim: arouse students’ interest and learn new words&phrases )
Tell students when and why did the teacher move to Hefei and lead them to think why people move to big cities.
(Aim: help students to think about the advantages of cities and learn new words&phrases)
Help students think comprehensively by showing them two sides of a coin and lead them to talk about the disadvantages of cities.
(Aim:train students to think comprehensively and help them review words&phrases learned in Unit one)
Step3 While-reading
Prediction: ask students to predict the problems Jo will meet in the city. Invite students to give predictions and ask them to keep the question in mind.
(Aim: arouse students’ interest in the passage and train thinking abilities of students.)
