Lead in
Step 1.Show some pictures of the school and rooms of houses. Let them talk about some questions
Is our school beautiful and peaceful?
Does your home make you relax?
Do you feel safe at school or at home?
Step 2.A performance
While discussion, two boys come in. Here is a short conversation.
Teacher: Oh, What’s wrong with you?
Student A: I hurt my foot when I was running just now.
Teacher: Is that serious?
Student B: He can hardly walk by himself.
Teacher: I think you need to see a doctor now.
Student A: My father will come after class.
Teacher: Ok. Everybody should be more careful.
Step 3 Discussion
Ask students a question.
Do you still think we are always safe at school?
Show them 3pictures of activity 1 and ask them whether they find any risks from these pictures. Let students ask and answer like this:
--What’s he/she doing?
--He/She is…….
--Do you think what will happen?
--He/She may …….
3. Teach students some useful phrases
Run down the stairs, fall down, hurt oneself, broken glass, cause an accident, drop on feet, pick up, get hurt…..
Listen and learn
Step 1, listen and check what the pictures about of activity 1.
Step 2, Listen to the conversation of activity 3.Ask students to pay attention to the first aid suggestions and underline them while listening.
Step 3 Have students learn something about these.
