Step1: Revision
Revise the contents of unit1 by asking some questions as follows:
Which one is more modern, Superman or Spiderman?
Why does Daming thinks Superman is better?
Can Spiderman fly? What can he do?
What do they think of Tom and Jerry?
What lesson can we learn from Tom and Jerry?
(Write them on the blackboard)
Step2: Lead in
Here are some other cartoon characters, do you know them?
(Having some questions to ask them in order to let them have a brief understanding about them.)
Step3: Reading
Scan and then match the characters with the paragraphs.
Readthrough the passage and complete the notes on the TB.(A3)
Ask individuals to read the passage paragraph b paragraph, then answer questions on the handouts.
Does Nemo look the same as Shrek?
The monkey King is the hero of a story, what’s the name of the story?
When did the artist Herge invent Tintin?
Who created Snoopy?
(After each question, I provide many questons to reinforce the detailed information.)
4. Read the passage loudly again and fill in the blanks in the handouts. That is also a summary for the passage.
Step4: Oral practice
Discuss in groups about the topic “My favourite cartoon characters”, which is another form of the consolidation of the passage.
