Step 1. Warm up and lead in
Arouse students’ interest in cartoons by the video clip of classic cartoon movies.
Talk about students’ favourite cartoon heroes.
Guide students to understand a cartoon by means of thinking about some questions: What is it? What is it like? Who created it?
Step 2. Pre-reading
Read the title of the passage and match the cartoons with their pictures.
Step 3. While-reading
Read the paragraph one by one and discuss the cartoon heroes
among students.Students need to find the answers to the questions
on the screen. Such as: What is it? What is it like? Who made it?
Then think about which information are facts? Which are opinions?
Step 4. Post-reading
Brain-storm: Among cartoon heroes, who do you want to be ?Why?
Present a great number of words that describe the cartoon heroes
Step 5. Writing
Students write a short passage and introduce the cartoon heroes that they want to be.
Step 6. Discuss “Why do people creat cartoons?” and guide students to love the culture of the world.
