Step1 Warming-up
1. Listen to a song called Travelling Light. Make a free talk about their travelling experiences. (Do you like travelling? Where have you been?)
2. Show some pictures to the students and let them guess which country it is.
( Lead them to make a short trip around the world.)
3. Learn new words.
Tell the students my travelling story happened in Thailand and show some photos taken by myself in Bangkok, elicit new words and then teach them.
Step2 Listening
1. Tell students they are going to hear Daming and Betty’s talk about Lingling and Daming’s plans for the summer.
2. Play the recording for students to listen to and make choices.
Q1. Where are Daming and Lingling going?
A. LA B. China C. England
Q2. How long will they stay?
A. Two weeks. B. Four months. C. Four weeks.
3. Play the recording once again and let them get more detailed information.
Step3. Listening and reading
1. Talk with students if they have a chance to Los Angeles this summer, what they will take.
2. Then listen and check the things Betty suggests Lingling take.
3. Read the dialogue and check the following sentences True or False.
(1) Lingling is leaving at the end of June.
(2) Betty is going to stay in LA for four weeks.
(3) The total weight must’t weigh too much.
