Teaching Procedures:
Step 1 Leading-in
Show some wonderful pictures of Los Angeles.and answer the questions.
Step 2 Consolidate new words
Look and say. The teacher shows the pictures of new words and let the students to say as quickly as possible.
Step 3 Pre-reading
Work in pairs. Look at the photos in Activity 2 and say what you can see.
Step 5 Reading
1. Fast reading
T: Let students read through the passage and decide the main idea of the whole passage and of each paragraph.
(Give students some reading tips:
a. Let students read the title, the first and last paragraph to get the main idea of the passage.
b. Let students find the key words of each paragraph to decide its main idea of each paragraph. Check the answers and explain where necessary.)
