Step 1. Warming up

Purpose: to arouse students’ interest in the topic--Heroes.
Step 2. Leading in(new words and expressions)
A guessing game: guess who my hero is and learn the new words.
Purpose: arouse students’ interest in the main character—Deng Yaping and learn new words in sentences at the same time.
Step 3. Listening
Listen to a dialogue and choose the correct answer.
Purpose: to train students’ ability to listen for specific information.
Step 4. Listen and read
Read the dialogue and complete the timeline—facts about Deng Yaping.
Purpose: to help students understand a person’s life experiences in timeline.
Step 5. Watch and imitate.
Watch a flash and imitate, then role play the dialogue.
Purpose: learn the pronunciation and tune and practise.
Step 6. Talk about different heroes.
