Step 1. Lead-in
Review the new words.
Show some pictures to lead to the topic of Great books.
Step 2. Listening
Show the pictures of the three great people, Confucius, Shakespeare and Mark Twain, asking students what they know about them. Show more pictures to help them.
Play the recording twice for them to complete the sentences of the three great people. Then play again for them to check the answers.
Step 3. Reading.
Pre-reading: Students listen to the dialogue and choose the right answers.
While-reading:
①Students read the dialogue and answer the questions. They can discuss with their partners to check answers.
②Students do the exercise on page 57, matching the people with their descriptions.
③Explain the two sentences from the dialogue with passive voice.
Post-reading:
Group work. Divide the students into several groups. Students try to say sentences about their own great writers. The group saying the most sentences wins.
Step 4. Homework
Read the new words and role play the dialogue.
