Teaching Procedure
Step1 Lead in
1 Show the advertising video of World Book Day.
2 Talk about the importance of reading to lead to the module title great books.
Step2 Say writers
1 Divide the whole class into 2/3 groups to have a competition.
2 Look at the poems and the pictures, say who the writer is.
3 Give more information about the writers that the students are not familiar.
Step3 Listening
1 Listen to the conversation for the first time to get the key words and main ideas.
2 Listen again to check the answers.
3 Have three students read their answers out, and then check with the whole class.
Step4 Reviews
1 Listen to the conversation in Activity3 to check the true sentences.
a. Both Betty and Mr. Jackson think that Confucius and Shakespeare are great writers.
b. Confucius and Shakespeare lived hundreds of years ago, so people aren’t influenced by them now.
c. Mr. Jackson thinks that Mark Twain is as great as Confucius.
d. Betty wants Mr. Jackson to join the internet group to discuss great book.
2 Listen again to match the descriptions in Activity3.
3 Read the conversation aloud to find out some reviews on Confucius, Shakespeare and Mark Twain.

Step5 Discussion
Have the students to talk about who they think will get the Nobel Prize in Literature.
