由外研社出版的《新标准》初中英语教材编写特点是每个模块分为Unit1、Unit 2和Unit 3三部分。Unit1部分是基本的语言内容，Unit 2部分是知识的扩展和综合的语言运用，Unit 3附有相关语法和语言知识的练习，学生用来自我检测本单元所学的语言知识。
本模块以友谊为话题，探讨学生在友谊问题上的困惑和解决方法，让学生意识到友谊的重要性，并积极探讨与人相处的正确方法。选取的课文讲述了一个甜美的微笑改变作者生活的感人故事，让学生明白保持积极乐观的生活态度、以及善待他人的重要性。文章以倒叙的方式展开叙述，脉络清晰，时间线索明确，为学生写记叙文提供了一个范本。
【教学目标】
绝大部分学生能够在语境中理解in silence, treasure, trust, include sb in the circle of friends, stick together like glue, suggestion 生词以及话题相关的宾语从句的意义；
绝大部分学生能通过图片和标题猜测文章的写作内容，以及扫读、略读、细读等阅读技能来理清文章结构，理解故事叙述的逻辑顺序和人物行为并根据上下文猜测生词的含义。能分析和比较语篇中的主要信息和观点，找出语篇的主要信息和观点；并在阅读的基础上，有逻辑地讲述自己的成长的经历，能运用宾语从句表达自己的意见和观点；
3. 在小组活动中培养学生合作互助学习的意识，增强学生交流与协调能力；以及根据图片和故事情节进行理解、合理推断的能力。
4. 学会乐观积极的心态去面对生活和学习，善待他人。
【教学重难点】
1、理解故事叙述的逻辑和人物行为并根据上下文猜测生词的含义。（重点）
2、有逻辑、有情感地叙述故事，并使用定语从句表达自己的观点。（难点）

在教学过程中，采用多媒体手段辅助教学，利用PPT课件、视频、图片贯穿整个教学过程。
【设计思路】
为了达到在本节课学生能够准确地用所学的语言知识，口头谈论他们成长过程中经历的思想、性格等方面转变的历史性事件，进而为课后的写作进行结构和语言的铺垫这一教学终极目标，学生在完成阅读任务中，进行语言输入，深度解读阅读篇章中的话题，实现教材内容输入与读后语言输出的无缝对接，提高学生在真实的情景下运用语言进行交际的能力。
