Teaching Steps
Step 1 Warming up
Free talk:Show some pictures of Chinese ancient stories.Ask students :Do you like reading ancient stories?
2.Have you seen this film?The Trojan War.Now,let’s enjoy a video,a part of the Trojan War.?
(Purpose:This activity can arouse students interests?and lead them to topic naturally.)
Step 2:Pre-reading
Show some pictures in the story on Page 83.Ask Ss to skim the story and put the pictures in the correct order. Write the number 1-5 in the boxes.
Ask students to look at the map together.and understand the specific location of Greece and Troy on the map.And then ask students:Who won the war,the Greeks or the Trojan?
Review some words. Who responds quickly?
(purpose:In this step,”Task-based”teaching methods is used here to develop the students’ ability of cooperation.)
Step3: While-reading
Tell the students that they are going to read a famous tale. Ask the students to read the article on page 83,and complete the tasks.
Fast reading.
Tell Ss to read the text quickly ,and get the general idea.According to the time order ,divide the passage into three parts.and finish Task1
(To develop students the skills of skimming )
Careful reading.
Task2:
(1)Ask students to read paragraph1-3 then answer the questions.
(2)Ask students to read paragraph4-6 and then guide them to finish the mind-map.
