1. Body language means different things in different cultures. In Canada ,nodding your head shows agreement.But people shake their heads from side to side to show agreement in India .So to avoid misunderstanding, you should study both spoken and body language .
2.Show a picture of dog and talk about different meanings in different countries.
Understand the phrases about dog ,such as “a homeless dog ”, “a running dog”, “a mad dog”, “a dog catching a mouse ”,have negative meanings.But in western countries ,dogs considered honest and good friends of humans.
Talk about dragons in Chinese culture and western culture.
Some things have similar meanings in Chinese culture and western cultures. The rose is regarded as a symbol of love in both China and some western countries. People in China and the West think the rose also stand for peace ,courage and friendship.
Read the passage and understand .
Ask students to read the passage by themselves and understand the passage.
Underline the words and phrases they don’t understand .
