三、教学过程
Step I Revision and lead-in
I will show many pictures about China. Students will talk about the sentences what we have learned last lesson. Here are the sentence patterns.
A: What’s this ?
B:It’s a ﹨the_____.
A:What do we speak?
B:We speak___.
A:What’s the capital city of China?
B:____ is the capital city of China.
I will ask some volunteers to come to the blackboard ask and answer in pairs. After talking, I’ll say we all love our motherland. It’s great. Next, I will begin the lesson by showing a picture and ask: Look, it’s also a famous place. Do you know where it is? Is it in China? No,it’s in our friends Danny and Jenny’s motherland-Canada. Then I’ll write down the word “Canada”on the blackboard and ask the students to read after me. I’ll say today let’s follow Danny to go to Canada.
Step II Presentation
Look,Danny shows us many pictures about Canada. It’s a nice place.I’ll ask the students:What do you know about Canada? I’ll write down the sentence on the black board and say I know our friend Danny and Jenny live in Canada. Then I’ll write down“I know____.”on the blackboard and make sentences. Eg:I know Beijing is the capital city of China. I know Tian’an men square is very big. To help the students to understand the word “know”. I’ll say our friend LiMing and Miss Zhang are talking about Canada. Let’s have a look! What do they talk about? Then I will play the video of the text. Before watching the video, I will design four questions with the key words and sentences in this lesson.
Questions:
1.Who lives in Canada?
2.What do they speak in Canada?
3.What is the capital city of Canada?
4.What does the flag of Canada look like?
After watching the video twice, I will say let’s talk about Canada. Students will answer the questions. When we learn the word “Ottawa” I’ll say let’s follow Danny to the capital city of Canada. Let’s follow him to read the sentence.I’ll use the same way to learn the Canada’s flag. After answering the questions the key words and pictures will be showed on the blackboard. I’ll ask the students to read in different ways, and make sentences to master the key words. At last students can answer the questions and use the important sentences:What do you know about Canada? I know ____ by themselves.
Then I will say let’s go to the famous places in Canada with Danny.This is the waterfall we have looked just now. It’s Niagara Falls.Let’s follow Danny to read the sentence.It’s famous all of the world. Do you want to go? I’ll use the same way to learn the CN tower.
Step III Listening and reading
Students will listen and read the text by following the video. Then I will ask the students to do an exercise.
Purpose: To develop the habit of listening to the tape and repeating the sentences. To help the students to correct pronunciation.
Step IV. Practice
The whole class will be divided into six group. I’ll give them two tasks. They should practice the dialogues on the book ,or use the key sentences to introduce Canada. Then the team leader will be a small guide to come to the blackboard to introduce Canada.
Step V.Development
Then I will say there are more beautiful places in Canada. Do you want to go and have a look? Let’s go on to follow Danny to visit Canada. Students will know more cities. After learning the new words, I design a chart. Students should read and discuss the text in groups and finish the chart. Then the team leader will tell the whole class the answers.
Step VI Homework
1.Learning more knowledge about Danny’s homeland-Canada from the book or look up on the internet. Next class introduce to your classmates.
2. Making a newspaper about Canada.
Purpose:To train students’self-study ability.
