Teaching steps:

Step 1 Warm-up and lead-in

1. Greetings. The teacher greets to students.

2. Sing a song: Family fingers. Ss sing the song and show their fingers at the same time.

3. A happy English slogan: East or west, home is best.

4. A chant. A happy chant about family members.

( 设计意图:通过歌曲复习旧知,活跃课堂气氛。利用chant来导入主题:family,激发学生积极主动参与学习。)

Step 2 Presentation

1. Introduce Zoom’s friends

By introducing Zoom’s friends, we will learn the four new words: handsome, beautiful, cool and pretty.

(1) T: Today. Zoom’s friends will visit his home. Let’s see who are they? Listen (咚咚咚敲门声,然后出现Mike的图片). Who’s that boy?

Ss: He’s Mike.

T: Look at Mike. He’s handsome.

(2) Teach the word “handsome”, and then give some examples, eg: Wan Xinyu is handsome. Han Ao is handsome....

(3) Introduce Amy, John and Zip in the same way.

2. Learn about Zoom’s family members

Present Zoom’s family photo, and introduce his family members with friends’ questions: “Who’s that man/ woman/ girl/ boy?

(1) T:Zoom’s friends look at the picture and want to know who are they? So they have some questions. First, Amy has a question. Listen and repeat.

(2) Ss listen and repeat the dialogue between Amy and Zoom. Then the teacher teaches them to read.

(3) Retell the dialogue. The teacher asks and Ss answer. At the same time, the teacher sticks the key words on the board. (Layout design)
