II. Teaching procedures
Step 1 Lead-in
1. Show students pictures of Christmas tree, Eddie , Hobo and Sunshine shopping mall.
T: Look at the picture, what’s this? (Christmas tree)Yes,we know Christmas is coming. I’m very happy. Are you happy? Try your best to do in this lesson, you will get some presents. OK. Group leaders please remember write down your points on your paper according to the table. Come on boys and girls. Look at the aims of this lesson.
T: Look here, there is a new mall down the street. The new mall is Sunshine Shopping Mall. It is a good place to go shopping. Hobo is going shopping for Christmas and asks Eddie to go with him? Do you think Eddie will do that?
2. Watch the video of the comic strip and answer the following questions.
1)Does Eddie want to go shopping?
2)Why does Hobo ask Eddie to go with him?
3. Read by yourselves , pay attention to your pronunciation and intonations, and then come here to act it out.

Step 2 presentation
1. T: Hello, everyone! Sunshine Shopping Mall is a good place to go shopping. Hobo will go shopping for Christmas, he wants to buy different things in different shops. Do you know what shops they are.
T: Show students pictures of different shops and help them learn the names of these shops. Students practise reading these names of shops .
2. Christmas is coming. Look at different shops. Please make a shopping list for Christmas like this:
Group1 gift shop: ____________________ bookshop: ____________________
Group2 clothes shop: __________________ supermarket:___________________
Group3 sports shop:___________________ shoe shop:_________________________
Group4 toy shop:_____________________ flower shop:_______________________
and then show like this:
S: Here’s my shopping list for Christmas. I want to buy... for Christmas. I can buy...in...

3. T: Boys and girls, Christmas is coming. Daniel wants to buy a Christmas present for Simon. Please listen to their conversation carefully and tell me what present they decide to buy.
(1) What present does Daniel buy for Simon?
(2) Why does Daniel want to buy these things for Simon?

Step 3 Practice
Ask students to make up a new conversation about buying presents for their friend, using Daniel and Millie’s conversation as a model. Then I’d like invite some of you to act out.

S2: What about ______________?
S1: I am not sure. Maybe he is /she is not interested in ______________________.
