I.Warm-up

Free talk

I’m from Bengbu. Bengbu is getting bigger and bigger. The buildings are getting taller and taller. I think it’s becoming more and more beautiful.

II.New knowledge

Look at the pictures. In the morning, the sun is getting higher and higher. My shadow is getting shorter and shorter. In the afternoon, the sun is getting lower and lower. My shadow is getting longer and longer.

Magic game.

Teach shadow.

The shadow is of the window. The shadow is of our school.

Can you find your shadow?

Show some shadow. Have students to guess.

Show the duck’s shadow.

Ask and answer. Do you want to know more the little duck? Let’s enjoy the story together.

III.While-reading

First reading

Fast reading and answer the question: Who is in this story? Little duck or old tree.

Second reading

Read in details and finish read and circle.

Make students underline the word “lower and lower”, “shadow”, “grow” and “so on”. Let students make a guess on their meanings.

Meanwhile teacher can ask more questions to check students.

For example:

What is little duck doing?

When does the story happen?

Third reading

Read after the tape. Try to imitate the pronunciation and tones.

Make student finish the dialogue and read in roles.

Think and answer.
