Step 1 Pre-reading preparation (warm up)
1. (Revise the first lesson)
Guessing game. Have students guess what is it by showing some parts of the animals.
2. Free talk.
Encourage students talk about their favorite pets and give the reason.
Step 2 Presentation
1. Enjoy a short video about the poems with two questions:
Q1: What are the two pets? – A dog./ Goldfish.
Q2: Does the poet love his pet? How do you know that?—Yes. Because the sentences “My dog is the cleverest animal of all.” “My goldfish is a wonderful pet.”
Step 3 While-reading (Presentation)
1. Learn new words by showing pictures.
(poem, wide ,hunt, hide, build, camp, stick, bark, bite, fight, till, end, trouble, bubble, gentle, touch)
2. P95 B1. Listen and complete the sentences.
(Encourage students to work out: A rhymes with B. Some of the words in a poem often rhyme, and rhymes are often at the end of the words.)
Read through the poem carefully and underline the answers to the following questions in their books.
Q: Is the dog the cleverest animal of all? Yes, it is.
Q: Does he just run after a ball? No, he does not.
