Step1: Leading in
1、Show some pictures to the class
T: Besides words ,how can we know what a person is thinking or feeling ,….very good ,by watching his or her body language.
2、Have students look at the cartoon on page 17 and read the dialogue between Hi. and Lo., then answer the questions,
3、Tell students that we are going to learn a story about body language .
T; What is body language? Then show the spidergram and have students try to guess the new words and add their opinions.(write their answers on the blackboard.)
Step2: Pre—reading
Play a game
Ask a student to sigh, look down , frown and angry. Next have another student show :smile ,sit up straight, hold the head up and happy.
T: Who will you go to for help? Why?
Show the pictures of body language and learn the words: sign, hold; expression: sit up.
Show two pictures of people and answer:
T: What else can help us make a good impression on others?
4、Have students complete the exercise of “What do you know about…? Then check the answers in groups.
Step3: Skimming
1、 Give students five minutes to look at the photos ,the title and the introduction to the story on page 19, then answer the questions of “ Before you read “.
