Step 1 Lead-in
Watch a video about A bite of China to lead in the topic of this lesson.
Talk about different foods on different festivals.
Step 2 Presentation
A. Welcome to the unit
1. Food can be divided into different groups: drinks, meat, vegetables, fruits, snacks and main food.
2. Look at the pictures and learn new words about food.
3. Finish the exercise in Part A. Ask some students to move the answers on the blackboard. Check the answers together.
4. Play a game. Have a challenge about food.
5. Show the pictures and ask the students: What food do you like or dislike? Why?
6. Listen and answer.
T: Boys and girls, Millie and Daniel are talking about food they like or dislike. Now let’s listen to their conversation and answer the following questions.
(1) What food does Millie like and dislike?
(2) What food does Daniel like and dislike?
7. First, read by themselves, and then ask the boys and the girls to act the dialogue out.
8. Sum up the structures and make up new dialogues by using them.
B. Comic strip
1. Watch the video about Eddie and Hobo. Do some T or F questions.
2. Read after the video and then play a game. Act as Eddie and talk with Hobo or act as Hobo and talk to Eddie.
3. Practise with their partners and ask some pairs to act out the dialogue.
